Dansville/Wayland – Bret Martin Johnston, age 55 passed away late Saturday night August 2, 2014, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Syracuse, NY on March 5, 1959, a son of Martin (Dorraine Anderson) Johnston. On February 24, 1988, he was married to the former Laurie Proctor who survives. He was predeceased by his father Martin Johnston. Bret worked as lab Technician at Eastman Kodak for over twenty years. Most recently he was a salesman at Wilkins RV in Bath NY. In his free time Bret enjoyed being a sound technician for the band Bad Habit for over forty years. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, doing home improvements, and being active in the Boy Scouts with his son Shawn. He is survived by his loving wife of over 26 years, Laurie of Wayland, a daughter, Stacey (Christopher) Hall of Greece, a son Shawn (Jessica Bogardus) Johnston of Wayland, two grandchildren, James and Kelci Johnston. Bret is also survived by his mother, Dorraine Johnston of Gates , a brother, Craig(Cindy) Johnston of Gates, three sisters, Karen Johnston, Lori DiNorma, and Wendy(Andy) Rizzo of Gates, two half brothers Matt, Joseph (Ryann) Johnston of Cape Cod and a special great aunt Zita Anderson of Gates Friends may call from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday at the Hindle Funeral Home Inc. 271 Main St. Dansville NY 14437. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Clear View Cemetery, in North Cohocton. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
