Joseph W. "Joe" Driesbach age 95, passed away Tuesday morning November 3, 2015, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. He was born in Shadyside, OH on March 4, 1920, a son of the late Elias and Ethel Weekley Driesbach. He was also predeceased by his wife Evelyn, a son, Joseph, Jr, and siblings, Ida Engle, Dorothy Gilman, Elias, Paul, Carl, and Fred Driesbach. On June 16, 1979, he was married to Evangeline Stone Driesbach who survives. Joe was a US Air Force WWII veteran serving from 1941 to 1945 in the European and Mediterranean theatres as a bombardier and navigator with the 12th Army Air Corps. 57th bomber squad. After the war Joe worked for the Dansville Central School transportation department, retiring in 1982 as the shop foreman after 33 years of service. During this time he also had worked at Blum Shoe Factory and as a mechanic at Shay's Services in Dansville. He was a member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion, the Frank J. Casbolt # 6780 of the VFW, a former member and secretary for the James H. Jackson Hose Company of the Dansville Fire Department, a life member of the Dansville Fish & Game Club. He was a charter member of the former Dansville Flying Club and a former member of the Dansville Pilot's Association. In his free he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife Evangeline Driesbach of South Dansville. Four children, Paul (Deb) Driesbach of Ossian, Teena Wampole of West Sparta, Tim Driesbach of Dansville and Tammy (Mike) Offen of Sparta, a step-son Charles (Tammy) Gerling of Rochester, a sister, Josephine Bilby, eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, where services will be held on Saturday at 11:00am. Interment will be in Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
