Dalton- Elizabeth "Betty" Clute age 89, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday evening November 5, 2015, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. She was born in Cuba, NY on July 4, 1926, a daughter of the late Forest and Elizabeth (Broctte) Burdick. She was also predeceased by her husband Leo J. Clute, a son, James Clute, siblings, Richard Burdick, William and Robert Tomkins, a daughter in-law Jane Clute, a son in-law Bill Letbetter. Betty was a devoted member of the Dalton United Methodist and the United Methodist Woman. In 2002, she was honored by the United Methodist Woman for outstanding commitment to the Dalton United Methodist Church and as the acting secretary for the UMW. She was the head custodian at the Dalton Central School for over twenty-one years. She is survived by her children, David Clute of Dansville, Joyce Letbetter of FL, Laura Bosco, of MA and Dorothy Pierce of Avon; a sister, Katherine Cole, ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., 271 Main St., in Dansville. A funeral service will be held at the Dalton United Methodist Church at 11:00am on Wednesday. Interment will be in Oakland Hill Cemetery, Dalton.
